Asset Management

Municipal Asset Management Plans
Our work involved updating the Asset Management (AM) system and developing an implementation plan for a Central Saskatchewan urban municipality. First, our team of engineers updated their AM Policy and developed a Strategy. This was done by reviewing current background documents, including plans, policies, and strategies, and conducting a benchmarking analysis of the Policies/Strategies of 5 municipalities with similar population sizes. Following, we conducted workshops, interviews, and surveys with the municipal administration officials to receive input and feedback and to ensure that the Policies and Strategy align with the Town’s vision and goals.
From this initial work, we developed a five- (5) year capital renewal program and specific maintenance plans for all asset classes (water, sewer, stormwater mains, buildings, transportation, and recreational infrastructure assets). These actionable plans justified asset investments to ensure informed decision-making, resource allocation, and alignment with the municipality’s goals.
