Policy and Strategy Development
Our team created an Asset Management (AM) policy and integrated strategy for a post-secondary institution in Alberta. The AM Policy outlined the principles for guiding the development and implementation of Asset Management Plans. It showed a clear line of sight between the institute’s high-level objectives (Strategic Plan & Academic Plan) and the strategic management of assets. We conducted research on existing AM Policies in other PSIs and municipalities, developed a guide on how to implement AM, identified the desired state of assets, clarified the roles and responsibilities, and identified resource requirements.
The integrated AM Strategy describes the key practices, processes, tools, and documents that staff will use to implement the AM Policy and ensure adherence to its principles. It drove real and tangible improvements in evidence-based decision-making to enable more reliable financial forecasting and planning for infrastructure assets.
